I’m just going to throw my two cents in

and laugh about this
because.. why are people bitching so hard about DLC at launch. ME2 had it. Granted you got it if you bought it. And there’s over 40 dollars of DLC content just for ME2 alone.

I can’t afford that…

I can’t say that I am pleased at all with how most DLC pans out (cough, Capcom, cough), but maybe to calm down the biggest critics of DLC we should approach the argument differently. I understand that it is inconvenient for many people to download extras, it is for me since I don’t even have LIVE, but for some it seems that paying at all for the extra content is unfair. Games have been around the same $60 price tag for many years. But video game production is more expensive than it has ever been before. We’ve got motion-sensing technology, some exceptional movie-grade cinematics, very talented voice actors, powerhouse engines.. come on. And people really are willing to pay the price necessary for a great gaming experience: just look at Double Fine’s latest venture on Kickstarter, and it isn’t even going to be super extravagant, it’s a point-and-click! Just short of a couple million dollars for a point-and-click. That’s insane, guys.

There is always going to be superfluous DLC, especially from shyster companies, but worthwhile packages are just that— worthwhile. Gamers just have to be smart about what DLC they buy. If one is tired of shit-tier DLC, then maybe we can’t just not buy it, but also inform others who may not know as well to not buy it, too. Those shyster companies pay attention to desperate or less experienced consumers, so it is kind of our responsibility within the gaming community to inform others of truly crummy DLC. So telling people that they should keep their complaints to themselves is wrong, but so is blindly bitching about stuff just because you’re ragin’.
I don’t really know why I put this much effort into writing this response since maybe only three or so people who follow me are gamers. Oh well. Maybe someone will read it.

Edit:

I didn’t say anything about the controversy. Oops. I do feel.. not so generous regarding being charged additional money for launch DLC. DLC that is still in development up to the launch, or any DLC after launch is more sensible than content that is already complete prior to launch costing extra. Zaeed was free DLC upon launch in ME2. The DLC character for ME3 is not free for those who will be purchasing the regular edition of the game, even though it is already completed material. That is unethical. Many people involved in this debate are also saying that this is excusable because it’s been done before, but that isn’t true. It isn’t excusable. Just because a bad thing has happened before doesn’t make it good with each subsequent offense. That is called apathy, which does nothing because that is apathy’s nature. And even though Bioware might have little control over the situation, they are partially to blame. But EA really is the target we should be shooting at. And the only way to put a dent in that target is to deny it the thing it needs in order for this kind of unethical practice to continue— our money.

And this is tangential, but I think it is nonsense to release two tiers of CE. Just..just one. One CE. Jesus.
